Sousei no Aquarion 26 and Review

The joyride known as Aquarion ends here as Apollo, Sirius, Silvia, Pierre, and Lihua tried to save the world from Toma, Ortha, and the Tree of Life itself. I'm not going to tell you what happens but there are some great fight scenes along with a few surprises as well. I think the ending of Aquarion was fitting and it was a good way to wrap up the series.

The series started good in the beginning, lost its way in the middle, and finish up very stong in the end. Even though it had the standard monster of the week formula and much of the main plot wasn't covered throughout most of the series, it work out pretty well. Character development was spread out throughout the series with most of the characters got an episode or two to shine in the spotlight. I feel that it wasn't really Apollo's show but more of Silvia and Sirius's show. Apollo wasn't nearly interesting enough as Silvia and Sirius were but he did provide that final push to get the Aquarion team to win the battle though. The Commander was probably the most interesting character as he always knows what's going on along with his mysterious past. As for the Shadow Angels themselves, Toma was given the most developement with Futuba and Ortha having the remaining character development among the angels. I really feel that some of the angels should have been more active and not just there. The animation was great for the most part (except for episode 19) and the CG look great. I really like the battles in Aquarion as they were exciting along with the various combination attacks. The music was great as well but I really wish they played Pride during the series as that was a great song.

Overall, Aquarion has a deep plot with the past but it should have focus more on it and cut back the character development a little bit. It's a good series to watch for great mecha and sci-fi action. I give Sousei no Aquarion 4 out of 5.
